Clean, comfortable environment.
Convenient to school - it is expected
the student travels no more than 30 - 40 minutes door to door.
Bedroom - is it a reasonable size?
With desk, sound bedding chair lamp and wardrobe etc.
Meals - many students are growing
teenagers. We suggest you provide a balance diet: enough to keep the student
happy and not hungry. You should provide a breakfast and lunch (self serve)
and a cooked meal at night (host provided) . Plus snacks.
Telephone - make a landline available
but not for mobile or international calls. Encourage students to use a
phone card or their mobiles.
Heating - students should be provide
with appropriate heating and warm bedding.
Internet - hosts should seriously
consider making such a facililty available.
Abide by the students school/institute
requirements regarding participation, attendance, punctuality and uniform.
Adequate notice of one/two weeks (depending on
school) if you wish a student to leave.
Duty of care - you are expected
to play the role of a responsible parent. Make the house rules, expectations
quite clear (while considering their age)
