Host Information

Requirements for a Homestay Family

• Friendly, welcoming family who is interested in their student/s.
• Clean, comfortable environment.

Convenient to school – it is expected the student travels no more than 30 – 40 minutes door to door.

• Adequate facilities.
• Bedroom – is it a reasonable size? With desk, sound bedding, chair, lamp and wardrobe etc.
• Laundry facilities.
• Bathroom facilities.

Meals – Many students are growing teenagers. We suggest you provide a balanced diet: enough to keep the student happy and not hungry. The student is to prepare their own breakfast and lunch from ingredients provided and dinner is prepared by the Host seven days a week. Plus snacks.

Heating – Students should be provided with appropriate heating and warm bedding.

Internet – Should be available for students and the cost is included in the homestay fees.

Abide by the students school/institute requirements regarding participation, attendance, punctuality and uniform.

Adequate notice of one/two weeks (depending on the school) if you wish a student to leave.

Notice of one week if you wish a student to leave.

Duty of care – You are expected to play the role of a responsible parent. Make the house rules and expectations quite clear (while considering their age)
